Francesco is a photojournalist from Italy who has documented some of the world’s major conflicts and their hidden crisis. His photography focuses on the social and humanitarian issues that define life in the developing world as well as in western countries. His assignments and personal projects have taken him around the world, giving him the opportunity to carefully portray forgotten crises that are often missed by the mainstream media.
One of my very first cameras was a Nikkormat FT, and I have used Nikon equipment ever since. When digital technology changed the game for editorial photography, I started using Nikon’s flagships, chasing the higher performance of the new models each time.
Now with the Nikon Z system, I can say that I have never felt so confident that I have a tool in my hands capable of going beyond my every need, whilst exploiting such high levels of technology that are accessible to us today.
As part of my latest project, ‘Still Lives’, I am currently using my Nikon Z 7II to document the disappearing icebergs. I’m also using the Nikon Z 6II to shoot volcanic landscapes, which I have had modified to obtain an infrared-sensitive sensor.
