While spending two years in the northern part of Greenland as part of the Danish military special forces, Morten Hilmer started working on several photography projects, and his interest in local cultures and the Arctic nature began to blossom.
The Nikon Z 9 has been a game changer for my wildlife photography. Being able to track the eyes of birds and mammals is a huge thing for me – simply because I am now capturing moments that I would otherwise have missed.
When I am on location, I film just as much as I am photographing, and the video specs of the Z 9 just makes it a production powerhouse.
There are small details that make a huge difference when you are out in the field, such as the ability to charge the battery with USB-C, and functions such as the Warm Display Colours and the Starlight View that protect your night vision when photographing wildlife on a late evening – just to name a few of my favourite features.
All of this would be useless however, if the camera was not able to withstand the rough environments I often work in, but the Nikon Z 9 is able to. The quality of the camera’s build and weather sealing is supreme. I have taken it through howling snowstorms, heavy rain and muddy conditions, and the Z 9 has never let me down – it just continues to deliver.
