The best of Nikon 2024
The Nikon Z6III
Featuring the world’s first partially stacked sensor and the brightest EVF of any mirrorless camera, the Z6III sets new standards in its segment. Featuring flagship AF and power, 120fps burst rate for stills and 6K RAW video recording in-camera, the Nikon Z6III launched to rave reviews. The stills and video specs make this a truly hybrid camera that is agile and tough enough for any job. The Z6III is also the first Nikon mirrorless camera to work with Nikon Imaging Cloud for storage, image recipes, fast, seamless transfer and easy, on-the-go firmware updates with no need for a computer.
The Nikon Z50II
Nikon’s latest crop-sensor DX camera, the Z50II, is serious about fun. Powered by the latest Expeed 7 processor and with powerful autofocus specs borrowed from the flagship Z9, this compact powerhouse is perfect for expressing yourself on the go in stills or video. Vloggers and live streamers will love the simple set-up and ease of use, while everyone can enjoy instant access to creative Picture Controls, giving you the mood you want in your images and videos with the push of a button.
Nikon Imaging Cloud
Currently available on the Nikon Z6III and Z50II, Nikon Imaging Cloud’s completely free service offers storage, seamless transfer and access to Image Recipes from Nikon Creators to get the look you require. You can also create your own recipes, store them in the cloud and have up to nine on your camera at any one time – on top of the Creative Picture Controls that are pre-loaded to the camera. Have unlimited storage of images for 90 days as well as seamless transfer to your third-party storage choice. Nikon Imaging Cloud also enables quick, on-the-go firmware updates, straight to the camera with no need for a computer.
NIKKOR Z 50mm f/1.4
The nifty fifty is reinvented with the new NIKKOR Z 50mm f/1.4. A classic all-rounder, the fast 50mm lens is a must-have in almost every photographer’s bag, with its supreme versatility, great low-light performance and fantastic sharpness. The ‘standard’ focal length is great for a huge variety of scenarios: portraits, landscapes, travel, street and even close-ups. Its light weight also makes it perfect for use on gimbals or handheld when shooting video.
NIKKOR Z 35mm f/1.4
A fast 35mm lens is a street photographer’s best friend, and the NIKKOR Z 35mm f/1.4 is a stellar performer with its low-light capability and human’s-eye view of the world. Light and durable, it’s got everything you need to capture those fleeting moments, day or night. It’s a great focal length for video, too, with fine control over depth of field and a classic angle of view loved by cinematographers. Pair it with the NIKKOR Z 50mm f/1.4 and it might be the only two lens video set-up you ever need.
NIKKOR Z 28-400mm f/4-8 VR
From expansive landscapes to faraway wildlife in one twist of the lens barrel, the NIKKOR Z 28-400mm f/4-8 VR is a super-tele all-purpose zoom lens built for every opportunity. As a flexible lens for travelling or everyday photography, there might be no better choice. Built-in Vibration Reduction makes everything rock solid at any focal length, and you can even get great close ups. The perfect lens for those who want to just have one in their bag and know it’ll do its job really well, every single time.
RED LUTs
Nikon’s acquisition of cinema camera brand RED.com offers tantalising prospects for the future. The first small step is the introduction in 2024 of exclusive RED LUTs for Nikon cameras. Four LUTs are available as a free download and can be used by any Nikon camera with N-Log recording facility, giving your footage a choice of truly cinematic looks in grading.
And there’s more…
Nikon won’t be slowing up as we head into 2025 and beyond. Already announced is the development of the NIKKOR Z 28-135mm f/4 PZ, a power zoom designed specifically with superior optical performance for video and aimed at the solo videographer or small crew.
